World Osteoporosis Day : H.E. MOH Dr.Hamad Al
Manea announced the first official Saudi Campaign against osteoporosis
which will last for 6 months sharing with the international community this
important public health issue.

As part of this event the first and largest
milk campaign will be launched on 1.1.1428 ( 19.1.2007). Six million milk
samples will be distributed throughout the kingdom to schools and other
general and social public centers.

The Royal Highness Governor of all regions in
Saudi Arabia are participating in this event each in his region upon the
request of HE MOH.

Their Excellencies Saudi Ministers are also
contributing to this national campaign.

One of the Friday prayer speeches will be
devoted entirely on the milk and healthy food and its importance to build
strong bones also the speech will highlight the harmful effect of smoking
and alcohol on bone.

Doctor Khaled Margalani made great effort to
organize the activities of this event under the care of HE MOH.

A Saudi singer is to about to launch a video
clip on the importance of milk to built healthy bones.

His Royal Highness Prince Walid Bin Talal
has donated three achillis ultrasound machines for osteoporosis screening
program.

HE MOH has appointed a committee fortify the
milk in the kingdom with Vitamin D (from 400 iu to 800 iu per serving).

Saudi Osteoporosis Club on this occasion
prepared 11 pamphlets and 3 posters aimed to increase the awareness on
osteoporosis among the public as well as among the health sector.
Thousands of these publications to be distributed.
